About the Fund

Removing the cost barrier to a credential

Education advancement is one of the Foundation’s three areas of focus. The Community Scholarship Fund is how that commitment reaches individual students — as awards that reduce what a family has to cover out of pocket.

Cost is one of the most common reasons a capable student stops short of the credential they are after. The Fund exists to take that obstacle off the table, whether the path ahead is a four-year degree, a technical program, or a workforce certification earned in a matter of months.

Every dollar given to the Fund is a tax-deductible contribution to a registered 501(c)3, and it stays invested in students from Greater Summerville and Dorchester County.

What the Fund Supports

Three paths, one fund

College & University

Support for students heading to a two-year or four-year institution, where tuition, fees, and materials add up well beyond the sticker price.

Trade & Technical School

Support for the skilled trades our region depends on — programs that put graduates into work close to home, often in a fraction of the time.

Industry Certifications

Support for the shorter credentials that move someone into a better job now, and for adults adding a qualification while already working.
